- First of all install the iCloud App on your Windows 10/11 PC from the Microsoft Store and log in to your iCloud Account from your PC. (You can disable iCloud on the PC later if you want to but first you need to install it in order to get your PC as a ‘Trusted Device’ in your Apple ID Account.)
- Next login to Manage your Apple ID from your PC, and trust the browser. Then enter your two factor authorisation code just sent to your already trusted Apple device.
- Now check the devices tab in your Apple ID account. Your PC will be listed as a trusted device.
- Next go to Sign-In and Security and click on App-specific passwords and create a new password for your Windows PC, name your password something useful like Windows 10/11 Mail and right click on the generated password to copy it to the clipboard. Close the window and logout.
- IF you close the window without first copying the ‘xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx’ password string you will not be able to view it later, so will need to delete and recreate another App-specific password
- Go into Windows Mail and create a new account with the name of your iCloud email address and enter (paste) the App-specific password just generated. Click on next and Microsoft Mail will sync with your iCloud account and return and probably prefill the name !idspnInternetMailICloudAccountName as your Account Name. You should then change this to your real name or your Account name as listed in your AppleID.
- …All done!
